New Home Construction Inspections – From Contract to Completion and Beyond

How much is your peace of mind worth?

If you’re building a new home, a small investment now could save you thousands in the future.

An independent inspection at each stage of the construction process will help you identify potential issues or workmanship that doesn’t meet industry standards.

Don’t let your builder persuade you that an independent inspection isn’t necessary. At The Home Inspection Hub, our inspectors work for you – the person who is paying for their experience and expertise – not the company who is being paid to build your home.

The Home Inspection Hub has a team of inspectors with many years’ experience in the building industry. We know what to look for and what kinds of problems can occur. Our inspectors will produce a detailed photographic report which highlights any issues your builder is obliged to rectify, potentially saving you thousands of dollars as well as the hassle of a dispute with your builder.

Contract Review

A new home contract can be a lengthy and detailed document which needs to be examined carefully for any discrepancies or possible misunderstandings or misinterpretation.

The Home Inspection Hub can provide you with an experienced inspector who will thoroughly review your contract to ensure that it is in line with industry standards. We can also provide advice on any issues that require clarification between parties prior to signing.

Why Get A Contract Review?

Having your contract reviewed before you sign allows you to have confidence before the build begins. An independent assessment of the contract can identify any potential issues that may crop up later.  It’s also a good opportunity to learn about the building process including building terms which can be confusing. With all of the information, you can make an informed decision. It also gives you a better negotiating position with your builder.

Once a contract is signed, it can be very difficult to change anything. Make sure you’re covered before you ‘sign on the dotted line’.

The Home Inspection Hub can support you throughout the entire build, with a series of independent building inspections which cover the crucial stages of a new home construction:

  • Base Stage
  • Frame Stage
  • Lock up/Pre-Plaster Stage
  • Fixing Stage
  • PCI/Final Handover

Maintenance Inspections

Our inspectors can carry out a Maintenance Inspection for you regardless of whether you have booked us for any of the prior staged inspections.

During the three-month maintenance period after your home has been built, your builder must fix any additional defects that may arise. While most issues are detected and corrected during the building process, some defects become more evident once the house has been lived in for an amount of time.

A Maintenance inspection covers all the items in a PCI, inspection, looking for any potential long-term defects. We encourage our clients to let their inspector know of any particular concerns they have with their new home.
